What's Happening in JK/SK

 

                                      February 7, 9, 10

REMINDERS:

**Mrs. Peddie’s birthday is on Monday, Feb. 6  

**JK/SK Dental Screening on Feb. 9

**Hot meal-- grilled cheese will be on Thursday this week.  JKs may make an order, I think—let Rachel Peereboom know & leave payment at the office. 

**Grades 1-8 will be going to a ski race on Friday, Feb. 10.  There will still be class for SK, but no assembly or Buddies that day. 

**SKs will be practicing in class for the Public Speaking Festival which is Friday, February 17. 

**We have about $8 in Canadian Tire money—let’s win a cupcake party!  The contest continues until March Break.

**SKs will be joining the school trip on Feb. 24 to two local seniors homes to share songs and poems.  Please return the permission forms that will be going home.

**New book orders will go home-- they are due back on Feb. 16.

BIBLE: God gives me friends.  We’ll learn about some of Jesus’ friends in this unit.

Bible memory verses: New verses will be assigned…due on March 1.

Tuesday:  ZIPPIES/ JKàB.E.A.R. BINDERS & library books

MATH- Sets of six and the numeral 6.    

LANG. – The letter qQ has the ‘bubbling sauce sound /kw/, heard at the beginning of ‘quack’.    q               is the handsign for qQ .  The back of the tongue is humped in the back of your mouth, lips make a circle. The "Qu” quintuplet babies will be introduced.  We make ‘q ‘with a little hook at the bottom of the stick.

THEME- Friends: no one wants a ‘wrinkled heart’—let’s think about words that make and keep friends.

 

Thursday: ZIPPIES

MATH- Sets of seven and the numeral 7

LANG. – The letter qQ –what would you bring to a baby shower that begins with qQ or uU?  Let’s see what we can come up with and have a little party for the quintuplets.  (All ‘gifts’ will be returned.)

THEME- Friends

 

Friday: ZIPPIES/WORD BOX / BEAR BINDERS/ LIBRARY BOOKS

MATH- Review sets and numerals 1-7 with mittens and hearts.
