Bible: We look at how Ruth remains devoted to Naomi; Ruth meets Boaz and he becomes her kinsman-redeemer. Students will identify and apply ways to serve others, compare ways that Boaz showed love to ways that they can show love and select ways to serve as a visible expression of love.

Oral Language:
Student of the Week needs to be prepared to share a newspaper article on Wednesday. Grade one students will tell the title and why they chose the article. Grade two students will give the title, a short summary of what it is about and why they chose it. All students need to use linking words in their presentation. and, but, then (Gr. 1) because, if, after (Gr. 2)
Thursday, be prepared to bring in a picture/map of a place you would like to travel to. For example: a country like France, or place like Disney World.
French: New unit - J'ai faim! (I'm hungry) - French words for common foods - yum!
Math: We will have some fun reviewing many concepts with Winter Carnival Math this week.
Grade 1 - Measuring using metric and customary units. Learning about capacity.
Grade 2 - Looking at fractions - reading, writing and making fractions.
Social Studies: We are learning that we live in community. The family models responsibilities of community-dwelling people. We will see that communities have rules, responsibilities and routines in order to fulfill its function. Project due Tuesday, February 7.
Art: Creating snowflakes and Valentine's Day
Computers: Using the formatting tools to make a written document (ie. fonts, borders). We are using the program OpenOffice which is available free from (www.openoffice.org)
Drama: Mrs. Peddie is our Drama teacher Friday afternoons
Gym: Winter Activities - See The Current for list of items to bring each week
Health: Healthy Habits - healthy eating
Music: Rondo form. Playing rhythm instruments. Listening to music by Johann Sebastian Bach.
